get computer weekly and see what jobs are going for Cisco and the like. Ring the company and ask them what the look for in a applicant. i.e what qualifications. contact network suppliers to see what they use and what kind of employees they struggle to find.

This mag also lets you know what will be big in few years and if you get the training now it will pay dividends.

I am a programmer and i started with computer (distance learning) many years ago, not bad but could have been better

also network engineers tend to work all over the UK installing not likely you will get much work local regularly.

What a wonderful exciting junction you have reached in your life! The fantastic thing is that you have no limits. You are clearly an intelligent person and are more than capable of learning something new so why not sit down and write a list of your top 5 things youd love to do in life, and I mean ANYTHING! If you dont have the skills but have the will then go and take a course! Explore ALL your opportunities! The equation is simple... explore, discover and enjoy! Once you know 100% what will make you a happy person then go for it without regret and without reservation! Stress is the number 1 killer in this life so why would you ever want to do something that stresses you out! This is an adventure, dont be nervous or scared just be determined to find your new place in life. One good thing to do would be to write a list of all your strengths and abilities as a person. Are you creative? are you caring? are compassionate? also what gives you the greatest satisfaction in ife? You need to know yourself completely. Once you do then you can only make the right decision. I dont know what it courses are good. But I do know it is very competive most require a masters degree for programing I have a friend who is a programer and has been looking for 4 months he does java and most jobs have been outsourced to other countries. In 10 years there will be very few jobs left. This is not a good field no matter what field you are in.
