Dana Said:

education deduction better than lifetime credit in my case?

We Answered:

Yes; however, the cost of attendance rarely remains below $4000.

Victoria Said:

I am 30 years old. No wife, no kids, no girlfriend. Tired of my job want a career change?

We Answered:

You could go back to college and study for a different career. If your in the uk you could get in touch with learndirect they could put you on courses that equivalent to university grades. Or do temp work for an agency and then get the experience that way, then you can start applying for permenant jobs in that sector once you have the expeience.

Hope this helps. Good luck in your job search, hope you find a job you want to do.

Bernard Said:

Would you change to a more fulfilling career with lifetime of debt or stay in current occupacion?

We Answered:

Money isn't real. Choose happiness.

Sara Said:

Why is it so hard to admit that education is a lifetime process?

We Answered:

I think you are so correct. Perhaps it is the way school is set up. You do your four years and your out. It basically is a prison experiment. It makes learning boring, and just downright painful. The education system acts as if everyone learns the same, and that if you don't learn Their way, you are an idiot. A lot of geniuses flunked in school. School is not set up to produce geniuses, it's set up to produce mediocrity, hatred of learning, and sheep. I think once you make it to college, you have an opportunity to break this cycle. You can go to classes that interest you. And you don't have to stop. I can easily see myself auditing classes when I'm 60! But a lot of people keep that jail mentality while in college, and when their "out" they don't feel like they need to continue their education. But it's true, that professionals, in order to keep up with the times, Must continue to take classes in their fields. I'm going to be a hairdresser. There are some hairdressers out there who haven't taken a hairdressing class for 30 years, they aren't successful because they can't cater to new clients, just the ones whose fashion is stuck 30 years ago! Or what brain surgeon would continue to make money if he didn't study up on the advances in brain surgery? And just on a personal level, why would you decide that you have nothing more to learn? That is the only time you stop learning.

Jim Said:

why do college students face six or seven career changes in a lifetime?

We Answered:

Based on what I see everyday here, it's because most of them have no earthly idea what they want to be when they grow up. The major in subjects they don't particularly care for because they think they'll be able to get a good job doing it or they major in subjects they aren't particularly well suited for because they think it's fun. They make decisions based on the short term and don't factor in the facts that, in a great many disciplines, you need graduate or even post-graduate education to have any real chance of making a career of it and that any graduate school worth going too doesn't just take any old student just because they happen to have an undergraduate degree in that field.

It's not that the colleges and universities aren't preparing students for life in the real world, it's that they aren't taking advantage of the tools we're giving them to help them prepare themselves for life in the real world.
