Making A Career Change
Jacob Said:
Where can a 45 yr. old man with bipolar disorder get help making a career change? We Answered:
I'm not bi-polar, but I am an emotional train wreck. I was a katrina victim but my home wasn't damaged, just the rest of my whole entire life and outlook on life. I can say that selling my home and attending school full time (I'm going into debt full time too) is much more rewarding than any of the jobs I've had prior.I know I can make mistakes and jump right back on the band wagon. If I don't like a class I have two choices
1. Neck it out because it ONLY LASTS FOR A SEMESTER!
2. Drop the class!
It's as easy as that.
Right now I'm in a community college, but hopefully fall or next spring semester I'll go to a 4 yr. college. I'd like to become a Dr. but if that doesn't work out for me, I know that I'm taking rigerous enough courses to change my major in a couple of years and still come out on top.
Ask yourself, how many times are you going to improve your life before you die?
It's a morbid question yes, but you can continue doing what you do and find yourself being the same you in another decade, or you can change and become that much more amazing of a person.
I've chosen to change. I'm only 25, yes. I had a life set though. I bought a house at 20 in a decent neighborhood. I liked my job a lot. I just didn't want to be doing customer service making $30K a decade from now. I want better for myself. You should too!
Pick something rigerous, take the easier classes before working to harder. If there is a math 100 instead of math 101, take it. It's going to help maintain your GPA. If you have to pay for extra semesters because of this, so what? It's student debt. You have to spend some to make some. Everything looks worse because it looks better!
Hope I've helped some.
Send me a note if you ever need to talk or ask questions.
Oh, ya, online classes are often harder than in class classes. Teachers take you more seriously and if you have questions they respect you more for taking time to ask them. They don't treat students like that if it's online. Often they won't even respond to you for a week.

I'm in the process of making a career change and completing? We Answered:
Well, I'm 32 and I'm in the middle of trying to make a career change but I haven't figured it out. So you're that far ahead of me.Don't let people make you feel bad about what you want to do unless it's wrong. Like if you're married and have decided you want to work where you have to travel 3 weeks out of the month. Other than that, go with it. People may just be a little jealous.

I am interested in making a career change and wanted to know how to get a job as a Asst. Buyer? We Answered:
An Asst. Buyer position is still a marketing job so it would not be a major change. The decison to change careers involves a process you should be aware of. A mistake can be very painful and costly. Here's a site that can help you make that decision. I do not have any business connection with this group but I always recommend them because they are very effective. The founder of this group is Richard Bolles, author of the best selling book, 'What Color is your Parachute?'

What do you do when you have too many talents and interests as far as making a career change? We Answered:
Nick,First of all, it is not possible to have too much talent or too many interests. You will never learn all there is to know about anything. There is always something to learn.
That said, you should first decide not what you are interested in but what you are truly passionate about. It takes much more than an interest in something to become successful at it.
I have many interest. However, I have only one passion. That is the option that I have chosen as my own business.
And yes, your own business is a far better advantage than a career. Simply because in your own business, you are the creator of your success. You decide what your time limits are. You set your own goals and you determine what you want your income to be. In a career, someone else will always be in control of all these aspects.
So before you make a decision of any kind, learn how to identify your passion. Then learn how to fuel that passion for your success.
If you would like, I have an article about this subject. It is too long for answers messaging but if you will email me at bonnieram1962@yahoo.com I will be glad to email you a copy. Just let me know that you want the article on fueling your passion.
I wish you all the best in whatever path that you choose.
