Mid Career Switch

Velma Said:

How many people here are mad that Green Day switched styles mid-career?!?!?

We Answered:

...After 16 or 17 years of playing the same way.. don't you think you would get bored? They didn't do a 180 or anything, their music is still defiantly Green Day. And who are you to be mad they switched styles? It's their music, and if that's how they get satisfaction out of playing then more power too them. As for Green day being emo.. I don't see that. They're more observant of whats going on around them. They're more political now. Along the lines of Bruce Springstein, U2 and Rage Against the Machine..
I like their new stuff - I like their old stuff. Try the song St. Jimmy out for size.

Is 31 a suitable age for a career switch?

We Answered:

You have to do what makes you happy. At 37 I went back to school for IT (networking). Market kind of sucks now, but I'm still happy that I made a bold move. My sister in-law was just about to get her architect's license. She left the field and is working, happily, as a barrista.

There's no right answer to the situation. You make the move and you win or lose. If you don't you stay where you are and end up asking yourself "What if.....?"

Is there room for animal sciences in Singapore?

We Answered:

The National University of Singapore is an excellent university with an incredible biology department. I gave a talk there in 2004 and there were a number of people that were doing very good research in ecology, evolution, and conservation. Not sure exactly what you want to do in 'animal sciences', but you should not have to go abroad and spend a fortune.

Sorry, it looks like nobody has answered your question yet. If you provide some more details and state what MOE stands for, you might be able to get more information.

Whoever MOE is, just contact them directly.

Mid-life crisis: what sort of career would you switch to and why?

We Answered:

Not a career... but traveling, being a wanderer of the world, without a home or family, to get the most out of knowing other people and what other cultures have to ofter.

Second choice... art! Dedicating myself to the creation of art regardless of profit or finances.

Patrick Said:

can you switch the type of lawyer you are mid-career?

We Answered:

Short answer, yes.

Nobody is locked into a particular field of law. It's whatever the market can dictate.

Nancy Said:

mid career crisis , what should I do?

We Answered:

Have you thought about taking some time out. You should either have a quick job break or try something like traveling or volunteering.
Work always drags you down at one point but it gets better =[
