Reason For Career Change

Allison Said:

Has anyone had a significant change in careers? What was the reason for the change?

We Answered:

My husband originally studied English (as a 2nd language) and liberal arts in college. He worked in the international relations field for a few years, and then went back to school for a Masters in International Affairs with a concentration in business.

We decided to live in New York because of my job, and he ultimately interviewed for and got a job at a financial services firm. It was a huge career change, but as finance is a big industry in NY, it seemed like a good opportunity. Financial services firms tend to hire from a variety of academic backgrounds, thus providing good opportunity. And it turns out that he liked it, and is still in the field 9 years later. A bit of a random choice, but nevertheless a career change that worked out!

Hope that helps!

Jo Said:

reason for changing career?, why do you think you fit the position?

We Answered:

Reason for changing career? Advancement, more money, location, environment, different industry, etc...

Why do you think you fit the position? "Not only do I feel that I'm extremely qualified for this position, I feel I'd be a great addition to this work environment. After visiting the company's website, I've come to realize this company has values that mirror my own."
