Resume For Career Change

Loretta Said:

whats a good resume objective for someone looking for a complete career change?

We Answered:

You should customize your objective to fit the specific job. A good idea is to look at the job description and show how your objective is a good fit for the job you are applying.

**resume help please- nontraditional student reentering workforce w career change*?

We Answered:

Rule of thumb, unless the work experience is EXACTLY what the employer is looking for, put it second to your degrees and coursework.

Try these:

BIG career change- what to do with resume?

We Answered:

In your resume' highlight your objective which is to work in Accounting then your education. Yes companies are looking at experience however some positions will take you fresh out of college so try to get an internship at a company in which you will be working in the field you are trying to get into. Look at MonsterTrak because they have entry level positions and internships available throughout the US. Hope this helps.

How do I create a resume with an erratic job history (career change)?

We Answered:

A gap is never good. But i do understand not wanting to look like you jumped from job to job and no one hire you b/c of that.

As an HR manager, I know I would prefer to see ALL of your relevant job experience. Put your date ranges on there. At the bottom, instead of putting hobbies etc (those are stupid and are never relevant) put your "reason for leaving previous employment was attending school to earn your AAS".

Any good company will read the entire resume and wonder "why did she only work there that long" or "why did she leave", and then see your schooling and understand. Good Luck!
