Tom Said:

Can I have some career advice PLEASE (more opinions please)?

We Answered:

Wow! You are all over the place in your discussion.

Do what you want to do with the idea that there is no law that says you can't change direction anywhere along the way. It's common to go after something and then find stuff about it that you can't live with. Also, the same job at different companies can be completely different because of different circumstances and different people you work with and different bosses. The only problem with changing careers is financial obligations you accrue along the way. And maybe family obligations. But the bottom line is that you can change and adjust at any time, as long as you are willing to do what it takes at the time to make the change.

My advice is to do what turns you on the most and make sure you really do your research well concerning that career because there are always lots of ways to make money with the same skills than you might think based on normal knowledge and standard thinking. My opinion about your Mom's comment about why she didn't become a lawyer is that she was very possibly using limited thinking and knowledge and I'd bet she wasn't considering all the jobs lawyers can get working for other companies besides law firms. A large percentage of big companies that are not law firms, like insurance companies and banks as just two examples, hire lawyers full time to help keep them out of legal troubles.

And this doesn't account for all the lawyers that form their own law firms where they might be the only lawyer in their company and then go looking for the type of lawyer work that they enjoy doing the most or what's needed the most at the time in their city. Or if your Mom wanted to become the super-duper expert authority on one particular subject, better than anyone else under normal circumstances, she could do all the serious learning and research and experience in that subject and then hire herself out to other law firms who from time to time need an expert in that subject so they don't have to do that same time-consuming research that your Mom did over a long period of time. Then they'd pay your Mom what she charges them and then they charge their client the cost of your Mom plus extra so they get some money too. Law firms do this type of thing all the time so they don't have to be experts in everything.

Best of luck to you. (And your Mom) :-)

Eduardo Said:

Which career should I choose? Producer or lawyer?

We Answered:

You cannot go to school (as far as I know) to become a producer. There is no "movie producer" entrance exam. And law school is very tricky to get into and harder to graduate from. A good movie for you to check out would be "The Paper Chase" and you will see what I mean. What are you drawn towards? In the end, you will spend more time out of your life at your job than doing any other one thing, so you should strive to do something you love. And that doesn't happen by accident. My advice to you is to be Undeclared for the 1st year, and take classes in different areas that you feel you want to learn more about, and use that time to explore the possibilities. Best of luck to you!

What would be a career ladder for an optometrist?

We Answered:

corrective surgery is more and more common so unless you're going that route you may want to find an alternative..

Christian Said:

Which career should I choose? (Easy 2 points and good advice 10 points!)?

We Answered:

Personally i wouldn't become an actor/actress because it's too much publicity. If you think about it, you realize that you lose the freedom to do a lot of the stuff that most people like to do, such as going to the movies, visiting family friends, etc. and especially privacy. If you looked at the majority of celebrities now you would see that everything that they do is public, and they have a lot of unstable relationships.

Being a lawyer is a good choice but its not necessarily a very stable job, so if you choose that i would find another major along with it just to back it up in case of complications.

Business is the most risky of them all, you could get rich really fast, or you could lose everything. So it goes into the same category as lawyers. (get a stable career choice as the major and this one as a minor)

i have no idea about producers, but it takes a lot of money to start a film... and everything depends on creativity. Are your films original and appealing? if not then don't go with this. I imagine that this career is super stressful and busy so if you are going to go with it i would say give 100% no less.

A good idea for a career in my opinion is engineering because it has always been viewed as the "middle class" work and is really stable. Income is enough for a pretty good life and jobs aren't too hard to find considering that it is one of the most advancing aspects of modern times.

Going for med is also alright but blood might make you queasy and there are a lot of responsibilities involved.

hope that helps

(my suggestion would be major engineering minor in business) thats wut i'm planning on doing

Which career should I choose?

We Answered:

There are 2 kinds of job that people are looking for. 1: The job that u love and 2: The job that make enough money for u. If it give u both, just choose it. If not, u have to plan. If u choose the job that u love, u have to prepare how hard the life is. If u choose the job that make enough money, u have to prepare your heart to accept it and how many year to do it.
