don't do structural engineering. that's the long road if you're going to build everything yourself. Just hire an architecture firm to get the designs approved. Government needs to sign off on them anyway. So work on business. You want to manage the money, not do the work.

I've never heard of a 'small business development' major; to get an MBA varies, but most masters degrees will take at least 1 year, usually 2. If you're talking about a bachelor's degree, if you go full time and take a heavy class load you could probably finish in 2 1/2 years.
