Career Choice And Development

Allen Said:

Which career choice you would you make?

We Answered:

The most sense option is to stay safe and remain where you are, but that's not what I recommend. Take the better paying job, you won't stay in it forever so the commute will only be a temporary thing. You will become accustomed to it. Regarding the "rumors", consider them just that.

People are aggressive for a variety of reasons and you don't know what is going on there.

You will bring your own style to the job and hopefully that will include getting to know your staff. If you talk with them and find out what is making them so aggressive perhaps you can do something about it, perhaps you cannot. If the former, that will be good, if the latter, you will have an opportunity to explain the situation and ask them for suggestions about improvement.

The opportunity at the new company is something you need. Plan on staying a minimum of two years and if the situation is bad and doesn't improve; move on. Remember, no job is a lifetime commitment.

Dennis Said:

is computer programming is a good career choice for a person who has less analytical capacity?

We Answered:

Programming is for someone who just loves to solve problems. If you are not working on financial applications it may not require too much math but it does require lots of logic. I'm surprised you have passed your programming courses if you don't have at least some logic.

If you hate programming that is not unusual and many people with that dislike for programming have been very successful doing systems design and networking.
