Career Development Curriculum

Russell Said:

I am passionate about Education but I don't want to be a teacher. Are there any other careers for me?

We Answered:

You can work on the Board of Education for public schools, but you will need something that shows that you are experienced in the field of education. So, a degree is a good idea.

But if you don't like that idea, you can organize or join a community center that helps underprivileged students after school and during vacations. I live in a very poor neighborhood and no one here can afford tutors or anything of the sort. Many children come to the community center and I am always busy helping them with school work or organizing games and activities for them. Where I live, many students of all ages enjoy coming to the community center for guidance or help with homework. Especially if you want to help underprivileged students, that is a GREAT idea.

Considering a degree in education?

We Answered:

With your wide range of interests in education, there are several different career possibilities for you in the field. I really think the links below can give you much more in depth information on them (including training, salary, future job outlook, etc.) than I can, so I hope you find them helpful.

You can also consider adult education or high school education teaching public policy, international affairs, politics or social studies (depending on your concentration in graduate school).
