Want to start a new career would like advice from someone with experience as an organizer or planner?

We Answered:

I was a PA for the whole summer last year but it was for my godmother. Either wat it goes I still did the things you're talking about. So I say go out looking for jobs like party planning if you want your own business. Also a PA or secretary of a busy person.

Has anyone participated in Merrill Lynch's Financial Advisor Practice Management Development Program (PMDP)?

We Answered:

Do I definately get a job? Yes- provided you meet the program goals for bringing in new business. This can be very difficult, but also doable if you are willing to work hard- very hard.
Is there a lot of people that do this? There seems to be a need for newer folks right now. The average advisor age has increased somewhat over the last decade indicating an opportunity for younger folks to get in. That said, the market is competitive. ML is a great place to be to face that competition since it is so well recognized and offers a great spectrum of products and services.
How much is the salary? Depends on your work experience and location. It should be enough to pay your basic bills but not enough for you to get comfortable. Ranges in our office are between 40k and 70k for new guys (and gals). The higher salary is for folks who have significant experience in the financial or similar industries. It doesn't matter too much though, salary fades out over 3 years and then it is all commission. Bonuses adjust for salary- so a lower salary means you tend to get more commission bonus while in the program.
Any additional information from anyone that knows anything about this would be greatly appreciated.
The job is very, very hard. Rewards are high to reflect this. You have to be a good salesperson and know your investment business. Most folks find the sales part the hardest. Your first few years will consist of you putting yourself out there everyday and getting rejected 95 times out of a hundred. The hard part is to keep doing it day after day until you develop a book. If you are confident and hardworking, you should do well.
