Psychologists! How hard is it to redo something that should have been done long time ago?

We Answered:

I think you sound like you are doing very well, better than some americans your age...also...... and you have had to deal with both cultures......good for you.......
I would say that you do NOT sound like there is anything 'wrong ' with you......but you need to know if you see a psychiatrist, they are trained to find any negative, and they are not necessarily right about their diagnosis.........
I dont think you mean you want to 'redo ' the damage.......because that means to repeat the damage over again.........
I am convinced , from what you have said, that you will rapidly catch up with your age, and you may be there already there
so you have to learn to relax a little and give yourself a break in all your pushing to be better and better..........everyone needs a vacation and to relax
Emotional maturity does increase the more one grows and the more one is around mature people...... it includes having a value system and helping others and not always competing with others to get ahead.......and all that......
I seriously dont think you have anything to worry about........take care.......happy new year , too

Should i attend a Vocational High School?

We Answered:

I almost made the mistake of going to Vo-tech for many reasons:
1. I thought I would be advanced in the specific degree that I wanted to pursue
2. I thought colleges would like that I was taking a specific course before entering college
3. I was easier and took up half the day
4. In my district, you could get free credits in college for taking the full two-yr course
5. I thought it was interesting.

However, I found this out:
1. Even if you are advanced before entering, its the same things you will learn in first-yr in college, even if you do get credits
2. Vo-tech is for people who do not want to go on to college (that's the point of taking it, not saying that every single person takes it for this reason), and they want an easy way out.
3. Most people probably find the courses they are taking interesting, but the classes may be boring.
4. Colleges would rather (TRUST ME) see you take core subjects such as language, history, etc., rather than spending half of your day in vo-tech, then the other in highschool. Let me clarify, if you do not know yet. Vo-tech requires that you be out of highschool for half the day, thus, you will not be able to take many classes in highschool because space will be filled up. Accordingly, and especially since you are a straight-A student, universities would rather see you take a variety of courses (so that they know you are expanding your mind and options for your future), instead of just focusing on one field.

At the moment, I cannot think of other reasons, but I'm sure someone will update you on that.

Luck!
