Once you apply to a school you need to apply for a FAFSA.
It is a government program. They are grants, not loans, you do not have to pay them back.
You can do this by going on the internet and looking at www. FAFSA.ed.gov
I was a nontraditional student also and this really was a life saver. The grants can be used for anything that you need to keep you in school. Books, food , rent, etc.
