Bessie Said:
What career is best for me?We Answered:
I suggest that you take an aptitude test. An aptitude test assesses your skills and your interests and matches you to the careers that are right for you. A high school or college adviser can recommend a good one. Failing that, go to the workforce development agency (unemployment) and request one. JobFit and Work Keys are excellent.Kristen Said:
Can i do an MBA ?We Answered:
Absolutely you can! If this is your calling, this is what you should do. In fact, rather than hurt your chances of getting into an MBA program, your disability status might actually help in that it makes you stand out. Based upon your experience, you can offer a unique perspective that could be just what businesses want or need-- and this can lead you to creative employment down the road. Corporations (+ schools, governments, etc.) definitely hire disabled folks, especially if they're trying to figure out how to better serve certain groups. Also, your cohort of classmates will think differently/notice things they wouldn't have previously noticed for having known and interacted with you b/c, by virtue of your perspective borne of living with a disability, you see things differently (this is why universities strive to incorporate diversity of all sorts into their cohorts/classes). For instance, I had the opportunity to teach at Gallaudet University for two years. It's the only liberal arts university in the world that serves deaf/hard of hearing people. Based upon that experience, I will always understand that I am hearing; I never really thought of myself as hearing before that. I'm also now much more inclined to notice and, if needed/requested, to try and accommodate deaf or hard of hearing people that I encounter.
So GO FOR IT!! You might explore whether there is any $$$ to support disabled students wishing to pursue an MBA. Alternatively, you might see if there is $$$ for minority students pursuing an MBA. Unless the scholarship application specifies racial or ethnic minority, it is open to ANY underrepresented minority. So, apply for it.
Good luck to you.

Phd (Economics) or Phd (Strategy) : which suits me?We Answered:
Best to follow what you really want. It also depends on your GPA and research background. Besides, the MBA is nothing like a research degree - I doubt the background it gave you will be very beneficial to either PhD program, regardless of where you attend. Far more important were you grades and standardized test scores, and fundamental research you did in either degree (probably UG)
