Go to the development meeting. Hear what they want from you and try to deliver. With a degree from Purdue, you ought to be able to make inroads in to the retailer's corporate jobs.

After Addition:
I've worked crumby jobs, been laid-off, and always been able to cope. NEVER has a job (Or lack of it) given me ulcers or sent me to the hospital. Your poor coping skills may be what's holding you back.
