Hector Said:
Is it ever ok to say "no" to career development discussions? We Answered:
Why don't you use the opportunity to tell them how you feel. It sounds like their "career development" discussion is a failure if it hasn't benefited you in 5 years. They should probably be made aware of that. You don't have to turn it into a confrontation. Tell them that you don't understand what you are supposed to get out of the discussion if it doesn't lead to actual career development for you.
Good luck!
