Delores Said:

What kind of jobs or sectors could you work in with a social science degree or lesser qualification?

We Answered:

Prospects have an article about jobs that are suitable for people with Sociology degrees so that may give you some ideas:
http://www.prospects.ac.uk/options_socio…

It will partly depend on what topics you decide to focus on when you do your degree. E.g. If you become interested in the research skills/statistics side of the social sciences that could lead you down a different career path than if you focus on something like education or gender issues.

I am a Sociology graduate and I think the degree does give you skills that are suitable for a lot of careers, but it is sometimes necessary to get some form of postgraduate qualification as well.

Jon Said:

Shell vs Nestle: Which would be the better choice to kick-start a career?

We Answered:

I work for Nestle (the water division, Nestle Waters, to be specific) and it's truly an amazing company. The company is incredibly well-run, and they always keep the employees' best interest in mind.

Did you know that Nestle is the largest food and beverage company in the world? Talk about job security! That keeps me feeling comfortable in these days of economic turmoil.

I've never worked for Shell, but I can tell you that I cannot imagine a company being better run than Nestle.
