Career Success Development

Scott Said:

Jealous of my sisters career success- and concerned about my own future career?

We Answered:

Every job has its pros and cons. Although it seems like she has this awesome, glamorous job, I'm sure there are things that are boring and decidedly un-glamorous about it.

What you're talking is really apples and oranges, because you said you wouldn't feel comfortable in a publicity-oriented job. Instead of having a rather defeatist attitude about your sister's success, let it be an incentive. In other words, instead of saying, "I'll never be special like her" say, "What she's doing is great, but I'm going to do my own thing and be just as special"

Not knowing what to do post-college while you're still IN college is so common it's not even funny. Keep an open mind about what you'd like to do career-wise and devise a plan to get where you wanna go. You're in college--that's an excellent first step. Stay in school and trust your instincts!

Gail Said:

Do you need to be rich to have an IT career, due to all the gadgets out there?

We Answered:

I have a career in IT and I'm not wealthy.

I have a phone and a home computer that I paid for, but the vast majority of my gadgets (Laptop, iPad, etc.) are paid for by my workplace. I mean... if they want you to support something, they need to buy you one right?

Cheryl Said:

What to choose, have children or a great job?

We Answered:

You don't have a baby yet, so take the job. You can always change your mind when you get pregnant.
