I'm prior Army service I been out since 2006. Wondering about Warrior transition Course.?

We Answered:

If you were out longer than 3 years yes they can send you to WTC. So since you have only been out for 2 , they can't.

Martha Said:

can someone please edit my essay?

We Answered:

Posting your essay online is a bad idea. If you end up submitting it online, they'll run it through a plagiarism detection program and it will come up as copied - because it's on here. I suggest you delete this question.

Career Change for a 50 y.o. Carpenter?

We Answered:

I changed my career direction radically when I was over 50. It was a struggle, and I make less than 1/4 of the money I used to...
Please remember that the politics, etc. that you didn't like in the public sector job will also remain in all jobs where you are not the boss. Doesn't matter if it is in non profit, education, public welfare, it exists in all of them. Being your own boss is one of the few places where you are insulated from that.
I suggest that you continue working the current job as you make the transition. Maybe hire someone to do the heavy stuff...and you supervise. Maybe you can find someone who needs a 'chance'. Then as you grow in knowledge and expertise in your new career, you can still support your family and learn as you go. Hope this helps.

Transition to Law enforcement??

We Answered:

Well, I really think the answer depends...

1. You will have to decide whether it's a good idea for you.
2. You should not have a difficult transition with your physical conditioning. You just have to transition in your mind from being helper to being scene controller (meaning firemen help and the police control crowds etc. in an accident type situation).
3. No. Most people that become cops have no law enforcement experience.

Consider these things:
I think a fireman can be more dangerous and more physically demanding on average than a police officer.

Will you keep seniority if you stay in the same municipality?

Will you lose anything union-wise? Retirement/pension-wise?

Will you have probationary status after completing the police academy?

Does dealing with scum people get on your nerves?

Does having to deal with b.s. calls like my neighbor's cat is in heat bother you?

Do you want to sit around waiting so much ? I know that in my town, the firemen and EMTs are always busy but the cops don't have enough to do.

Do you want to carry a gun more than your EMT bag?

I think it really depends. I think you have to consider your health too. I think you can get quite a few years as a cop without deteriorating as much as a fireman. Cops usually aren't expected by able to hold down a pressurized hose and climb up three story ladders etc while carrying someone else.

You are 24. Don't rush into something just based ona friend's ride along.

If you want to think about it some more, you could always take some
college classes in criminal justice. classes aren't like the real job.

Also, police work = more paperwork. you have to follow constitutional rules etc. where a fireman can get to work on putting out the fire, the police have to get warrants to search; establish probable cause;etc.
