What game development career earns the most money and how much do game engine programmers.?We Answered:
Game programmers make more money than game designers or artists. There's a game industry salary survey from 2006 here: http://gamecareerguide.com/features/266/… that gives the averages for each branch of game development. Within game programming, database programmers probably make the most, followed by engine programmers. AI programmers might be well paid for a specific game if they are *highly* qualified in AI programming, but generally AI programmers aren't paid any higher than other game programmers. I don't think console programmers are paid more than other types of game programmers, but they are probably in higher demand, especially during the early years of a console cycle.
