How To Choose A Career

Derrick Said:

How do I choose a career that I would be passionate in UK?

We Answered:

Where do I start? First, the bad, it is almost impossible to "choose" any career anywhere in these days of economic downturn. Your future starts here - today is the first day of the rest of your life. If you are mediocre at everything then it is entirely up to you to decide what employable skills you wish to develop. Only you can provide the passion.

Ricardo Said:

How to choose the career and major im interested in?

We Answered:

If you are still in school, and if you are trying to decide on a major you should be, check out the school guidance counselors. They are trained to help you in things like this. Talking and discussing is better than looking in a book.

After you get a idea of what you want to do, look for a local successful company in this field. Talk with someone there. Maybe the Human Resource people but I would go for a Manager. Ask them if what you are looking at is viable. People in higher positions like to be mentors.

How to help my brother choose a career?

We Answered:

Physical therapy school is anything but easy. It is a competitive entrance with a rigerous course load. It's certainly not med school, but not a walk in the park. Historically, acceptance rates vary between 20-50% of qualified applicants. This means that sometimes only 20% of those who meet the programs requirements are actually admitted.

Ian Said:

Where can I find a good program that will help me choose a career?

We Answered:

If you go to your local community collage, they have this test you can take. It'll ask you all kinds of questions. When your done it'll give you suggestions of career's that may be what you'd like to check into.
Good luck.

How to choose a career for me?

We Answered:

If the tests aren't pointing you in a particular direction, try volunteering or finding part time jobs or internships in various areas. The experience will help you decide if it's something that you want to pursue or not.

There are lots of jobs w/ adrenaline:
-- Financial services trader
-- Stuntman
-- FBI / CIA
-- Construction crane operator
-- Military
-- Pilot (fighter / stunt)
-- Sportscaster
-- etc

Good luck!

Adam Said:

How old should I be when I choose a career?

We Answered:

GCSEs are generally irrelevant in terms of career choice. Neither employers nor universities take much notice of them. It's only A Levels that will have any bearing and that will only be if you decide to go to university. If you don't know what you want to do then just choose subjects you enjoy. You're too young to be worrying about careers!

"Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't." - Mary Schmich, The Sunscreen Song (look it up, it's got a lot of good advice in it)

Erin Said:

Why did you choose your career Engineering and how you achieved it?

We Answered:

The answer to both questions is to contact one or maybe more of the professional engineering institutions such as The Institute of Civil Engineering or The Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers. Any of the major institutions would be delighted to help you and provide expert advice.
It might help if you can decide which branch of engineering appeals most to you.
