Hi, I can only give my opinion, and hope that you make the right decision that is right for you. I recently left media and marketing after 23 years!!! I originally wanted to be a graphic artist and was advised by the first agency I worked for (leo burnetts) that if I got a foot in the door I could be moved to different dept. So, 23 years later I was still in media, and being honest I never did like it, just got caught up in the good ole $. At the age of 42 I finally got the gumption up to leave and here I am a year later and sooooooooooo much happier and satisfied. Sorry to say but it's just a sess pool of an industry- over the years I've worked for most of the international and national agencies in both Sydney and Brisbane. DDB Needham, Mitchells, Leo Burnetts, Young & Rubicam, OMD, McCann Erickson...the works and after a period of time you just realise you just can't pretend any longer. Lots of air kissing, lots of backstabbing, your best mates will always be the reps who can get that $ from you. Sorry, but all these professionals guard their knowledge like its brain surgery, and frankly it's simply common sense wrapped up with lots of useless data, statistics and computer programs. There is no real sense of humanity, care, compassion or empathy, it's all about the dollar , the most you can get out of your clients whilst justifying and the very least you can buy it for from the media.

If you prefer not to go to graduate school, that will definitely limit a lot of your options in terms of careers.

There are some careers you can go into with just a Bachelor's in Psych and HDFS. Social work does offer some such positions, the pay and work is not great though. Counseling psychology do offer such positions as well but once pay and work are not very rewarding.

There are options you can take where it would only need 2-3 years in graduate school ie a Master's. A Master's in Social Work means you can open your own firm in a lot of states provided you take the licensing exam. With a Master's degree, you can also become a occupational therapist.

If you want to become a practicing psychologist, you will need Ph.D. With just a Master's degree, you'll only be able to take a position as a Psychologist Assistant. You can do therapy but it will always be supervised.

well, to answer this you would look at Super's life-span career theory. He integrates human development and career stages (i am not going to write them all down, just google supers career development theory). Also look at Savickas life-design theory (he worked with Super).

I am a licensed marriage, family and child therapist in California. I have a master's degree, and then had to earn 3000 supervised hours to be licensed. Depending on your state, that sort of thing might be a good option for you.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but accounting is relevant to any business. If accounting is not done properly, business decisions can't be made based on the correct information. If a company can turn a waste product into something else and sell it, an accountant can tell them if the profit in the sale outweighs the additional costs of processing the waste into the new product. The company may ordinarily dump the waste, thereby polluting and the accountant's information may show them that they can make a profit and thereby 'recycle' their waste into profit and hopefully decrease pollution and waste.

You should talk with someone in your college career counseling center about this. But it sounds like it would be a good foundation for a graduate program in social work or similar. There aren't a lot of opportunities out there for people with Bachelor's degrees in human services programs.
