Mike Said:
Future Career?We Answered:
Hi,Well I am a Northern California gal myself (Merced, CA) and that’s a tough call to make. If your goal is to move back to Modesto, I would look into jobs in some of the surrounding areas that may be bigger than Modesto, like maybe Stockton or further depending on how far you’re willing to commute.
I’m not quite sure the direction you want to go with your degree in Product Development, but I know that you can become a product or brand manager and for that, I would start out by working for an advertising agency that represents a client in either the fashion or entertainment industry. Maybe this particular agency does advertising for a local boutique in town or maybe there’s a clothing line that’s manufactured out of Modesto.
Networking is great and I would start out by networking with some of the businesses in Modesto to see where their corporate headquarters is based out of or even if they have an advertising agency in town who handles the branding for their product(s).
Also, if you’re willing to be a little bit flexible with what exactly you do with your degree and are open to not necessarily sticking with the fashion industry, the agriculture industry is HUGE in Central and Northern California. Pretty much your degree could be applied to many areas since all products could use product development/brand management.
If you would rather stick with the fashion industry, I would also talk to your advisor as well because they have great connections that may go beyond Southern California.
Good luck with your search and remember to stay positive!
Hope this helps :)

Career troubles..need advice on my job.?We Answered:
I'm just an ol gezzer, and all I can say is this.At 21 you seem to be on the right track. You may want to re-think your position on quiting,
one, take a look at the job market right now.
two, If your President noticed you 10 months ago what would make you think he/she is not paying attention to what you do now.?
three, you may want to approach your President
and ask if there is an oppotunity to help the company grow which would help get you out of the duldrums.
So good luck to you.
