I m a Mechanical engineer worked 6yrs in Product design & devmt. Wanted to become SAP funct conslt. Possible?

We Answered:

It's almost impossible for someone without experience to get in that bussines. There are no entry level positions. But you my try with some of the companies which provide free 1 month training and further employment. They also provide accommodation during training. But be curious when you sing a contract. You may stuck and of course they take a big chunk of your wage.
There plenty of them at http://www.sulekha.com/
let me know if you find something interesting
because I'm also thinking of changing to SAP (currently in PeopleSoft)
Good luck!

What are some entry level jobs for fashion and retail fields?

We Answered:

Great question! First of all, internships are so important because they are your first foot in the door of a company that could possible hire you after you graduate. Now something fun and flexible to do while you are in school are retail merchandising and mystery shopping jobs. I would try the retail merchandising jobs, first. They allow you to meet and interact with different retail and wholesale companies and, again, could be a source for your next job. This is really the beginning of your networking. You may want to try visualstore.com's message board for jobs as well as theretailtool.com and thefashiontool.com.

Good Hunting!

Careers for merchandise and product development (FIDM)?

We Answered:

Hi!
Well I have a friend who graduated from FIDM's Merchandise Product Development program and she is a merchandiser and loves her job! She says that FIDM was a great choice for a fashion college and credits them for giving her the education to get so far.

Other jobs you can pursue after graduating from FIDM's Merchandise Product Development program are: Merchandiser, Trend Analyst, Product/Brand Manager, Sourcing Assistant, Assistant Designer, Fabric/Trim Buyer.

If you would like more information about FIDM, I would check out the school's web site at: www.fidm.com.

Hope this helps :)
