Women Career Development
Melanie Said:
Why are women so turned off by and intelligent conversation? We Answered:
Women aren't turned off by intelligent conversation. They're turned off by boring, self centered monologues.Your ending question indicates that you never talk about anything but yourself and your career, which, and no offense, bored me in your 10 word description. I can hardly imagine enduring that discussion for an evening.
I'm sure there are some very interesting aspects to your job, but 99.5% of people would like to hear a 30 second highlight then move on to things of mutual interest. The .5% will ask you to explain more and you should go further with that person.
For most people, keep your 'career choice' short then ask about the other person's interest and allow it to be a 2 way conversation and span many subjects. You need to look for the signs that when you are the only one talking, and if they're "so uninterested", surely they are not asking probing questions to encourage you to continue an in depth explanation. That's a monologue not a conversation.
Intelligent conversations cover a wide variety of mutually interesting subjects, with all people participating.
