Claire Said:

Why can't I find a good job that will last a lifetime?

We Answered:

Start your own business.

It's more fun than a cat with the hiccups.

Is a college degree worthless?

We Answered:

This makes no sense to me. I'm a marketing professor and even our worst students seem to have no trouble finding jobs these days. I'm not surprised that you are depressed, and as you probably realize, the depression makes it that much harder to find a job. I'm so sorry that you have had to go through this. Are you located in some odd place where there are no jobs?

I don't buy what your career service counselors are saying. I do think that you need to think about how you will spin the fact that you haven't worked in the field (although you can argue that a waiter is a marketer - that's how I got into the field).

I'd be glad to try to help, if you want to contact me. I'm pretty good at packaging people and finding possibilities for them.

Become a government accountant?

We Answered:

Jobs in public service are there but might be in limited quantity. If you would like to work for the city, check out the city's website for jobs. The same goes for the county. If you are seeking a state job, try the Work In Texas website to determine if there are jobs you could be interested in. Lastly, the federal government is always hiring but it could take months to get in and they are very specific about how they want their application completed. Check out usajobs.com on the federal side. The only way to gauge demand is to look at the website and see what agencies are hiring for which jobs.

Is it practical to begin studying for a career in Acupuncture or Massage Therapy at the age of 40?

We Answered:

If you have serious difficulty socializing with others, then acupuncture and massage therapy may be a bad career choice. In those professions you will be required to build and maintain personal relationships.

You are never too old to pursue your dreams. Just make sure that this is something that you really want to do. I don't know about acupuncture but the state of New York has some strict requirements for practicing massage therapy. I believe that NY requires 1000 hours of training and national certification. A massage therapy program may take longer than a year to complete.

Good luck with whatever path you choose.

Laurie Said:

which one job type either human resource or marketing is best to mention in EPEC app form so i get accept?

We Answered:

My personal opinion is marketing. Reason being that for HR, it involve some local labour law, regulation and culture which you do not have any experience on it.
