Yes - visit your local junior college and take a variety of courses. It will become more clear to you where your gifts are. Remember that you will probably change your major a few times in college and you career a few times also. There is always time to find where you are most fulfilled and most needed by others.

Some of the jobs you mention will have math involved so you will want to try to improve in that area.

Few people like public speaking so join the club on that one.

Poetry and creative writing will probably become a nice hobby for you. It is very difficult to make a living from it. I write little meditations about my Christian faith as my hobby. I have these published in several different magazines (The Upper Room) or in online sites. I am paid about $25 for each one that is accepted. Only about 1 of 5 that I write and submit is accepted. You figure it out. You just can't make a living that way. I do it because I love it and want to express things to others that will encourage them.

I am also a published author of computer technical articles. That is a different situation. You can earn a living at that.

Take some creative writing classes and see how you do at that. If you decide you like journalism you can do some creative writing in that realm. Hollywood you can pretty much forget. For every creative person that lands a film or TV writing gig there are thousands trying.

Like the first guy says, try to find out what you like doing, volunteer at a hospital, school, local business. I don't want to come over condesending but at 17 you are unlikely to know whether or not you have a good head for business, try it out yes, but having never run a business or even a household as a business you have probably very little experience with the scary worl of money or people management. I am not saying this to make you feel stupid but to let you know how inportant it is to have a goiod understanding of what you want from college. The last thing you want is to have to go back in ten years and regraduate in a completely different field like I did. It costs lots and lots. I am now a graduate twice and its good to know about different things but if i had to do it again I would have gained experience in my chosen field and only studied that.

I would suggest interior design, or interior decorating. You can create environments that are appealing to your tastes. That way, you get to shop all the time for pretty stuff but you don't have to build a long lasting relationship with your clients. They will love you and praise you for your artistic abilities, and refer you to their friends.
However, you will have to listen to some of their problems, but probably the most serious will be something like.. they need you to advise them whether or not to get their sofa reupholstered.

you need to get out of the mindset that a lot of money means happiness. If you want to do architecture, do it. In fact as long as you have a passion for and enjoy what course you are doing, you will do well and enjoy your life.
