Do you think i could get into a good college? ?We Answered:
BC is hyper competitive and gets over 31,000 applications for a class of only 2250. I suggest looking into highly regarded academic colleges that don't have the national presence that BC has due to the division 1 football team. Take a look at top Boston area colleges like Tufts and Holy Cross and BU. Ranked academically similar to BC but easier to get in.Nancy Said:
College Chances?We Answered:
Bring up the SATs.I see that you're in IB Spanish. I'm IB and the credit from the IB classes really boosted my GPA (6.184 weighted), and being in IB helps with college admissions--they like it. I got into BC but my SAT scores were way higher. I know quite a few people who got rejected as well and they have higher than 1500 on the 2400 scale.
I had 1000 hours of community service so you're on the right track there.
That SAT score is really going to hurt you; it is, in my opinion, what will keep you from getting into BC and BU, at least. The others, I'm not quite sure of.
Try reaching for at least an 1800 or a 1900. Read the Kaplan book. Those strategies really helped me.

Military after college graduation?We Answered:
I'm also 23 and have a bachelors degree in Economics. I'm living in NYC and working an easy but boring desk job, my third boring desk job out of college to exact. I am meeting with an Army recruiter tomorrow. From what I can gather from friends of mine in the Army, it is difficult to get the MOS you want as an officer. It falls on the needs of the Army unless you are in the top of your class. Enlisting may help ensure that you end up with a job you want. One can always apply to OCS as an enlisted but I have heard that it can be quite a tedious process to go to OCS once you are enlisted in a regiment. If you are looking for the most opportunities, as an officer in the Army there are many schools for which you would be eligible, especially as a Combat Arms officer. Again this is just repeating advice given to me by guys that are in. Feel free to contact me with any other questions you might have as it seems we are in very similar circumstances. I have been looking into the military for about a year now myself, finding it very hard to narrow down my path for joining.
