Eileen Said:
Am I being unrealistic? (Professional Opinions Please)? We Answered:
Yes, you are being unrealistic if you expect a professional to answer your question. As for getting into Brown, you tell us you have a good shot and have good scores, so you know as well as we do that you have as much of a chance as almost anyone who's applying to Brown.
If you have solid extra-curriculars, talk to whatever department at Brown that might help you get in. Really just sports, if you're a great runner I know that significantly improves your chances of getting in, and I'm sure other coaches recruit as well...
Some kid in my school got into Brown and he's rather unimpressive academically, intellectually, and in pretty much every category... even his SATs were rather "meh." But, he set up at least one phony club that no one ever attended (including himself), and his grades were impressive because he was such a talented cheater on tests. Also, he's a minority. So, maybe if you emulate him, you'll get into a good college. *sigh*
