Career Advisory Services

Veronica Said:

could you revise some words in my mini essay?

We Answered:

Here's one way of rewriting your text:

Financial services and auditing most closely correspond with my interests in several ways. I believe that having the necessary skills is the most important factor for the fulfilment of day-to-day responsibilities in every aspect of business. Being an Economics major and having passed Level 1 of the CFA program have given me the essential skills and expertise which are required to work in these particular areas. In addition, while studying at university I worked part-time as an accountant and this provided valuable experience in beginning a career in the finance or audit advisory services.

This assumes that "financial services and auditing" should be plural.

How can I get out of a career rut and feel good about myself?

We Answered:

I was in a job which I liked but as the company changed, I resigned and retrained. I just went self employed and vowed never to have a boss. I'm in a position where I really don't have to work too hard because my wife is on a full time wage. If I work hard, good money comes in.

I had an area manager who always told people "If you're not enjoying what you are doing, get out, life is too short", so I did. Best advice I've heard off anyone.

So, realistically, the choices that I can see that you have are :

1) You'll get lucky and get that dream job. Waiting game in a tough market.

2) Go self employed, best to find a partner, or two, if you can. Build a company up.

3) Work out what you like most; passionate about, and get into that, even if it means self employment.

My kids are a lot older than yours now, and if it wasn't for them, I too would have jumped between jobs. Best option is 3 for you.

Good luck mate.

Anyone looking for job in singapore?-Financial Adviser?

We Answered:

You really expect a 21 year old to be able to do this? Entry level? New graduates? That is totally unreasonable.

In Canada the most successful financial advisors are in 35+ years old, just because that is how long it takes to acquire the maturity, skills, and knowledge base necessary for this type of career.

hi folks i need write essay and if you find at least1 grammatycal mystake?

We Answered:

A couple punctuation and spelling things...but I also changed some words to make it sound a little more formal and professional. Just suggestions...but at the least, insert the commas I put in there and change "analysis" and "company's".

Financial services and auditing most closely correspond with my interests for *many reasons. First of all, I believe that having necessary skills (can you remove "necessary" and replace it w/something more specific?) is crucial for fulfilling day-to-day responsibilities in many aspects of business. Being an economics major and *passing Level 1 of the CFA Program taught me essential skills and expertise that have qualified me to perform in this capacity. In addition*, I’ve been working part time as an accountant for a year which gave me valuable experience to further develop my career in finance or audit advisory services.

I want to work for an excellent well-known company like *yours (insert company name instead of "yours") in a *position which allows me to conduct audit and financial *analyses of *companies' statements. I plan to contribute my leadership and interpersonal skills to achieve this goal. *As a long-term objective, I would like to be a successful auditor or financial analyst and *never settle for less than my personal best. Ultimately, in years of continuing education and dedication to my field*, I *plan to have my own practice and be able to share experience and knowledge with younger generations.

Can you tell me which universities I should be shooting for?

We Answered:

Consider a good mid-level school, like OCCIDENTAL COLLEGE in Los Angeles, which has 3-2 Programs with top schools like Columbia University in New York City. You'd attend Oxy for 3 years and then transfer to Columbia for the last 2. My sons did this and have Engineering degrees. President Obama went there and then to Columbia, before going on to Harvard Law School.
Occidental has great financial aid so don't let the cost worry you. If they want you, they will get you the money to go there.
UC-Irvine would be a good choice for a school that you could use your CSF.

Look at St. Olaf's College in Minnesota, which is a Lutheran School, high quality, but not religous, or Grinnell in Iowa. Smaller schools but with great programs.

Discuss It!
