Wow the dude above has no idea how the Coast Guard works (or the military for that matter). I love it when ignorant people make statements about something they know little about. He probably has a better chance of getting drafted and going to Iraq than you do being a Coastie and going there.Anyway, the Coast Guard falls under the Department of Homeland Security and not so much under the DoD. Therefore, their primary mission is to protect the homeland from here rather than abroad. Your best bet is to go to your nearest coast guard recruiting center and ask them.
