Deborah Said:
Why do people choose to go to community college? We Answered:
The main reason I went to community college is because I failed a bunch of classes at my uni and got put on academic probation. Basically I just didn't try and I hated my school. So now I'm at a local community college and enjoying it a lot more, retaking the classes I failed at uni and such. It's also saving my parents about $3,000 a semester, if not more. It's a good chance to get your college GPA high if your high school grades or SAT scores weren't strong.Jennie Said:
What Kind of SAT Scores Will Get Me Into a Top College? We Answered:
You have a great resume, except for your SAT. Right now, you don't have much of a shot at any of the colleges listed, mainly because of your SAT. I would suggest either trying the ACT or taking an SAT prep class over the summer. Honestly, you should only apply if you get over 2000.Carol Said:
In high school, wanting to be a lawyer? We Answered:
To enter law school, you will need a bachelor's degree. Any bachelors degree that is acedemically intensive and encourages critical thinking will look good. A lot of law students major in political science as undergraduates, but you could major in literature, economics, or even crimial justice, but there is no bachelors degree pertaining to law specifically. What you are doing as far as joining clubs is great and will help you get into a good undergraduate program and law school. A juris doctrate takes 3 years to complete. Get good grades, take every loan and scholarship you can get. Also, when your old enough, get involved with an internship or volunteer for a law office or get involved with local government, hang out at the courthouse and watch and learn how things are run down there. Sounds like your already well on your way!Evelyn Said:
Do you think mothers who choose not work but are not taking care of young kids are setting bad examples? We Answered:
Well, let's put it this way.My education has allowed me to pick out the persuasive words in your closing sentence:
Don't you think wives who feel entitled to be taken care of and don't do anything at all to earn their support are setting horrible examples for their daughters?
and reject them accordingly.

Can someone answer my question about these universities......?We Answered:
First of all it is definently not too late. Its only 9th grade! Most colleges will see your overall GPA which of course can be saved if you buckle down. They may see your semester-by semester grades but even if they do many colleges look for improvement. If they see that you struggled in your first semester of high school (like many students do) and then managed to bring your grades around that MIGHT put you at an advantage over the kids that who get good grades all throughout. This is because you can play the "hard-worker" card, which colleges love.As far as joining organizations go remember that EVERYBODY applying for college is in some sort of organization. Many colleges don't even regard simply joining as an achievemnt. You need to make some sort of siginficant achievement within the club. That could mean getting a leadership role (President, treasurer, etc.) or directing some major project. But here's the catch: to do anything that an admissions officer would find worhtwile you will need to be passionate about the cause. Passion is something that lacks in many applicants. Alot of students join numerous clubs that they care nothing about, just to bulk up there applications. Trust me, one or two extracurriculars that you TRULY LOVE will get your farther than 5 or 6 random choices. So, choose your organization carefully and get ready to invest alot of time and energy into it.
Your statistics:
UCLA's SAT average range is
Reading: 570-690, Math: 610-720.
ACT: 24-30
Average GPA: 4.14
UIC does not use SAT's for admission.
ACT: 21-26
There are four loyola's in the US. In New Orleans,Chicago, Los Angelos, and Baltimore.
There are five Northwesterns in the US. In Louisiana, Illinois(two fo them), Iowa, and Michigan.
One more thing. RELAX! Your are only in 9th grade you should not be panicking about college. While it is smart of you to be thinking about it don't waste the best years of your life worrying about college. That's your parents' job. Have some fun, and make new friends. If you spend all your time worrying about college you will regret it later. Good luck!
