Transition to law enforcement??

We Answered:

If it is not cost prohibitive you would do well to enroll in some Administration of justice courses at your local college and if possible sign up for a private academy for training, both physical and mental endurance are some very important aspects of a career in law enforcement, most departments will send you for further training but if you have some prior to being hired it will be a plus for advancement.~

How does a person transition out of Customer Service? What other avenues are there?

We Answered:

Have you tried transfering to another position? How about becoming a customer service supervisor or trainer. Customer Service Skills are transferable. Your good at working with people and solving problems. If you have call center experiences that show time management skills. Good Luck.

I am looking to transition from the Army into a law enforcement career police or sheriff. Advice?

We Answered:

Thank you for your service.

Hiring practices and procedures vary widely by area and specific department. I would start by looking at websites for departments in the area where you want to live when you get out, and see what their procedures are. You may be able to start the process online before you get out.

It generally takes 6 months to a year to complete all the steps in a police hiring process, so start before you get out to minimize the time you spend on the couch waiting for a call...

What is better to join Army or Airforce for a career?

We Answered:

I was in the Army Reserve and I have a friend in the Air Force. I would have changed jobs with him in an instance. The Air Force's basic is easier and in my opinion, the Air Force has much better jobs. They're jobs deal a lot more with computers and office type work, as where a large percentage of the Army's jobs are more field oriented. If you like the outdoors go with the Army. But don't let anyone tell you that you will make more in the Air Force. All branches of the military make pretty much the same from starting rank and as you work your way up.
