Well,At age 14, I wanted to be a Football player, Rock Star, actor, and international man of mystery. I ended up an insurance broker. Not before working as a wholesale tire salesman, logistics coordinator, Marketing analyst, ECT.
Most people have no idea what they want to do until they either find it by mistake or get lucky...
I would not start pushing them for a carrer path until they are in their Sophmore year of College...

Take an aptitude test to find out what areas you are best in. Your HS counselor can give you one.Also, if you are no longer being helped by the HS, try a community college and take your general required classes and see about an aptitude test there. It used to be free to take tests that helped you figure out your best areas.

A lot of people retire in florida and arizona. Winters are warmer there. Lot of opportunities for Paramedics. Work in the States during winter and Canada during the summer.
