Network Engineer career Advice? what training & costs where to go? ?We Answered:
Andrew and Molasses2 are both correct. I have my MCSE+S and CCNA. I get paid fairly well, but you wont get the money you want until you get that needed experiance. So expect to start lower than you think you "should" be at with 0 exeriance. And having a MCSE, then switching to Cisco is totally different. IT'S HARD. The network theory is the same in a sense, but programming switches, routers, and WAP's is not as easy as the GUI interface provided by Linksys, who is Cisco now, Netgear, etc. And the CCNA exam is one of the hardest i have ever taken! But with time and effort you would do just fine. I'd start with your CCNA over MCP, MCSA, or MCSE. That is what companies are really looking for now. People with MCSE usually are asked to work with Active Directory, servers, etc. More hardware, less networking.
There are sooooooo many routes to go on this one!! Ask around with training places and schools.
Good luck and congrats on working for a higher education!
