Joyce Said:
Is there a way to get some sort of credit you can get in 4 grade that will help with future horse vet career? We Answered:
no but when your older you can get an apprenticeship with an instrustor and keep track of your hours, so when you try to get a job later in life you'll have references. I myself have been riding since i was in 3rd grade, and never gave up horses. please dont give up on them like most young girls do!!!??? Horses are living breathing animals. But remember stick to your dreams!!! good luck!! :)Wanda Said:

Is there a career, a good future for a deaf child? We Answered:
Before I gave birth to my twins I worked in a school that specifically taught deaf and hearing impaired students.Believe me when I say things can and will be difficult for your family but there are world of possibilities for your son. Government jobs, social work, counseling, teaching, lawyer, doctor, management. Essentially he has many of the same opportunities as a person with perfect hearing. There are specialized schools to help him grow and develop into a fully confident and functional adult. He'll be able to communicate through ASL and read lips. There are also implants which allow a deaf person to hear.
We've come along way in regards to people with physical limitations and thankfully, as long as your son can cultivate the skills he cannot legally be denied a job because of his physical limitations.
My suggestion is to start looking up everything you can about the deaf community. Find parents and children in your area that you can commune with. Enroll in gymboree classes for deaf/hearing impaired children and most important start learning ASL o you can communicate with your child. Many public schools are now offering night classes(at a minimal fee) for languages and such. The more confident you are in your knowledge of the deaf community the better apt you'll be at encouraging and supporting him in his endeavors.
Don't worry. Your son is deaf but that doesn't mean he can't lead a normal, happy and healthy life.

is there a career, a good future for a deaf child? We Answered:
A person who is deaf is ONLY deaf. They can do whatever other 'normal' people do. They have the same mental ability as everyone else. Some people who are deaf can lip read and/or talk just like everyone else. Im trying to think of that actress Marilyn someone who is deaf, but she can engage in conversation etc just like everyone else. If it does turn out that he is deaf, then engaging in sign language early and lip reading would help him alot. The earlier the better.
Try not to worry too much just yet, I know lots of babies who failed their hearing test and had to go for more testing and their hearing turned out fine. He may also only have a certain percentage of hearing loss, and not be totally deaf. In that case it should hardly affect him at all. Write down any questions you have and wait until your appointment. Good luck.
