Wilma Said:

In light of more current survey results, are scientists simply not 'anti-religion', but were raised that way?

We Answered:

I don't find the results too surprising. As a scientist who is not religious, I'm not sure characterizing us as "anti-religion" is accurate. I think that the churches do a lot of good things, and I've often thought that someone should form a "non-religious" church, one that would do all the things that churches do (have support groups, teach moral lessons, do charitable work, sing) without bringing God into the equation. I think the whole concept of God puts a lot of scientists off. I do have serious problems with religions that preach intolerance and ignorance, though.

Mae Said:

What are my chances of getting into Morehouse College or Howard University?

We Answered:

You definitely have a great resume and would very likely get into Howard and Morehouse, possibly with an institutional scholarship.

The woman who commented that these two schools should be safety schools for you and that you should 'aim higher' seems to be ignorant of their renowned reputations. Both institutions have amazing legacies of excellence; and I'm sure that is what has drawn you to them.

Morehouse has graduated some of the most influential and famous leaders of the world: human rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., accomplished physicist and businessman Dr. Walter Eugene Massey, the world's highest grossing actor Samuel L. Jackson and many many more. Morehouse produces confident, well-rounded, socially conscious leaders. It is a special brotherhood that only a select number of men can proudly say they are a part of. We know that we are a premiere institution, and there are many external validations of that including rankings and the fact that top-tier graduate schools regularly and eagerly recruit Morehouse Men.
