Can I get into Princeton? What about other "good" colleges? We Answered:
you should do what i did...make an account on http://www.collegeboard.com/this website will tell you exactly what you need to know. Like what you need to get into any college of your choice. If they offer certain athletics. How you stack up to other people who were accepted in the college. and other stuff like that that will answer all your questions. You can even put in your PSAT scores and the website will give you tips on how to increase your likelihood of getting into a good college (or the college of your choice) you will need a 3.75 GPA or higher to increase your chances of getting into Princeton U.
I also want to get into Princeton (or a good private college, but mainly Princeton), and i found out that i am on the right track for it. Johns Hopkins is my safety school since they have a great lacrosse team and i played Varsity my Freshman year.
I'm basically taking the same classes and levels as you are and i am going to be a Sophomore this year. i'm taking:
AP World History
Junior Gifted Language Arts
Honors Latin II
Gifted Chemistry
Gifted Accelerated PreCal
Philharmonic Orchestra
my GPA was like a 3.667 for Freshman year. (i got a B in geometry)
(AP is the highest level, then gifted (special testing is required to be at this level), then honors (advanced/average), then college prep (average/below average). Philharmonic Orchestra is the hightest level without being in a State Orchestra and taking private lessons 4 days a week as well.)
I think you might have a pretty good chance if you boost up your GPA, score high on you SATs and ACTs, and go to http://www.collegeboard.com/ to insure you're doing everything you can to get into Princeton. Keep up the extracurricular activities, atheletics, language classes, and fine arts too. Maybe i'll see you at Princeton U one day.
I really hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!!! :)
p.s. if you end up visiting Princeton U, or even attend that college, there's an awesome ice cream shop down the street called the Bent Spoon. You should check it out.

have i ruined my chance of going to a top 20 university like princeton,NYU,stanford,etc...?We Answered:
Get really good grades from now on. Take AP/honors classes, join some groups or clubs that are related to your interests like Model UN or something. And try to figure out some cool things to do on your own like an internship at a law firm or non profit or maybe volunteer work.I think you may still have a chance at the top schools if you do really well from now on. I expect you'd definitely still have a chance at somewhere like Northwestern but maybe not as good a chance at Yale, Stanford, etc?
Anyway, for political science- my sister studies that at Harvard and I know you will also need a Masters or Phd after your bachelors anyway to get a good job. Even if you don't get into a top 20 school for undergrad you can still get into a really great masters program. Don't worry about it too much right now, just do the best you can and it will work out:)

Will Stanford, Princeton, or MIT consider someone with a bad Freshman year grades? We Answered:
They're not going to change your GPA because of an injury, but they won't throw your application away because of it either. Those schools regularly turn down 4.0 students who had a harder time than that - you need great grades in the hardest classes and very high test scores just to compete with everyone else, and then you need to find a way to stand out. Original scientific research (published and/or placing at Intel) would make up for a lot of things - if you want to be a scientist.Juan Said:
How can I get into Princeton? We Answered:
First of all, good that you have goals.Second, you didn't mess up. Your high school transcript is what Princeton will be looking at. Since you're in 7th grade, the admissions office won't even see scores from 7th or 8th grade. But by 9th -12th, is where you have to get the marks.
B's are still fine for an Ivy league school. But in order to get in to the college, you have to define yourself in a way that shows who you are. You have stand outside the pack, be an individual and present yourself in a manner that Princeton would take note of you.
Best way is to be studious - academically and physically. Academically, get good PSATs, SATs, and ACTs if needed.
Get out in your community - be vocal about how to help your neighborhood or even you're entire state or country! The bigger your cause is, the more publicity you'll get for being a young and outstanding citizen.
You can also be an athlete, join track, soccer, basketball etc. The more physical you can get the more scouts you attract.
Join clubs, create clubs, do something that builds networks. And when you build networks, you get to know people who can help you accomplish your dreams - in your case get into Princeton.
Remember, be active, be humane, show that you are an individual with a drive to do good in the world. And let the world know you mean it not just for Princeton.
