Can I email other businesses? We Answered:
I don't think there is a law against it, but you do need to include a way for the receiver to respond that they don't want emails from you. However, a one-time email introducing your business and your services would probably be well received. Our chamber of commerce does that for businesses in our town. Be sure to have a catchy subject line to make people want to open the email. DO NOT include attachments -- those are red flags that it is spam and possible malware. Be sure to make it professional looking too, with complete name, address, phone, email, website address, hours, map if needed, list of services, professional affiliations and education, licenses, etc. Best of luck on your new business.(PS: I'm a business owner and would love getting this email because I would love a facial!)

Career suggestions for an animal lover??We Answered:
Veterinary technician - you would help with giving shots, bandaging wounds, etc.Animal Shelter manager. Mostly administrative but you would be around animals. Since you already volunteer at an animal shelter, ask the manager there if he/she knows of any paid positions available. Alternatively, contact animal charities and enquire there.
Zoo keeper. Not a lot of openings and I think they usually want you to have a degree in zoology, biology or some similar field.
If you really have great empathy for animals you could become an animal psychologist - start your own business.
You could get in touch with local vets and shelters and ask for referrals.
Are there livestock farms or horse training facilities near you?
Perhaps they have openings.
Check the web. See what the job sites have to offer.
and good luck!

How good are these college application essays? We Answered:
These are both good first drafts. Your grammar is generally not too bad, but it needs to be corrected in some places.Your essays contain more generalizations than specifics. I would have liked to have read more about your experiences with the old man even if it meant removing some other part of the essay.
The conclusions of both essays need the most work. This is almost always the case with first drafts of college essays. Your first conclusion needs to mention preparation in college for graduate school. You need a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D) to practice psychology.
You also should not mention the name of your church unless the university is operated by that church.
I make detailed critiques of essays for several students each week. I do this as a form of "community service" now that I am retired from my profession. If you would like this assistance, please email me and I will send you the instructions for emailing the essays to me in the easy format which I use for this work. Do not send the essays with your first email.

environmental research?We Answered:
I think you'll find there aren't many companies which do research on non-commercial plants. I would actually suggest picking up a job with the California state government or the national Forest Service in the area, as both are tasked to maintain the public forest resources. It won't be called an internship - just a seasonal job, but the experience is the same.Joan Said:
Finance degree... dependable or no?We Answered:
Your question would be easier to answer if you had a career goal (accountant, atty, importer, govt analyst, etc) in mind. What do you want to do? Research the possibilities, then work backwards from there, to see what degrees you need.MBAs were highly valued in the 80's, today they are a dime a dozen. If you want to move to NY or London and become a high profile worker in an investment bank, it would be great. If you plan to stay in TN, what are you employment options? Talk to some (whatever career you want) in TN to get their ideas. They can tell you what the REAL job prospects are with various degrees.
Good luck!
