New Career/Sisters Wedding=What would you do???

We Answered:

Contact the person you interviewed with (I suggest you go down there in person) and explain to them that you were so excited about getting the job that you forgot to mention that your sister is getting married and you have a commitment to be there. You really need to have that day off, and you hope they can accommodate you, since it was planned prior to your getting the job.

I'm sure everything will work out OK, congrats on the job!

I recently applied with the United States Postal Service for Casual and have questions regarding it. See below

We Answered:

Typically, casual positions are temporary, inside positions. These positions usually include mail sorting, mail loading, and machine operation and can be done at night while the regular post office operation is closed to the public. One word of caution. The casual temporary positions schedules are tedious to say the least. They can and do often work casual temps long hours and sometimes 7 days a week during peak mail periods and you are subject to work any and all shifts. It is hard work but if you impress the supervisor and they keep you for up to 180 days you may be able to take the test and get on the full time register. The pay is usually about $19 to $22 per hour. You should not have had to take a test to be a casual. You are only required to test if you want full-time employment.

Common Sense? or Logic?

We Answered:

The American system is set up to NoT be judgemental!! ~~ Everyone who works in a job for the government is also a "parasite" of sorts, because they get a paycheck from the government... and yes, some government jobs seem and are justified, while others AREN'T !! >Gum-chewing office processors in the welfare office don't always do their jobs either.. and they still get paid $$$$... By the local county or state Government. // Then look at all of there "extras" that get included for our own elected representatives in Wash. D.C. Are they not welfare recipients of a sort too? <Oooh, Yeah - they work so hard.... !! How? many hours was Congess in session this past year of 2007?? Doesn't anyone ever watch "Keepin' em Honest" on Anderson Cooper 360 (CNN)??

POSTAL JOB OFFER!! Please help!?

We Answered:

Most likely this is upstaffing for the Christmas season, however that's hardly anything to sneer at - 20+ dollars an hour is pretty good pay for a temp job. And it's a simple fact that finding a job when you have one can be much easier - you have money coming in which may make you more calm mentally and the fact you're willing to work short-term rather than wait around for the perfect position to come along demonstrates an attractive work ethic to prospective employers.
