You need to show two things:1) that you are interested in them and what makes them different from other firms. Good employees will want to talk about the firm and will appreciate your interest. Too many people begin with questions about what they can get from the firm and this is a bad place to start.
2) that you will be an asset to the firm.
Perhaps you could start the conversation with:
"Hello, my name is X. If youhave some time, I'll like to learn about your firm and its objectives."
