University Careers Advice
Chester Said:
Help, need university/careers advice?We Answered:
Enjoying the paramedic degree and excelling in it are great. But is it what you want to do for a living? If not, then don't do it. Too many people do degrees for the sake of getting a degree. I include myself in that.If you do want to be a paramedic then do the paramedic degree in September. You will feel like you've wasted 2 years. But you haven't. You've in fact avoided a lifetime of regret instead.
I'm no yardstick and I don't profess to be. But after 4 years of French and Spanish (fun, interesting and entirely pointless as it turns out) I did the law degree I should have done from the beginning and I've been practising law now for 6 years. Did I waste 4 years? Feels like it sometimes. But it could have been worse. 20 years down the line I could be in a job I hate, thinking that a waste of 4 years would have been far more preferable.
Do the degree you love, especially if there's a job you'll love at the end. You've got a long working life ahead of you, might as well be doing something you actually like.
I say go for the paramedic degree and chalk the last 2 years up to experience. Good luck!

University/Collage or people with careers need advice.?We Answered:
o my. it took me a while to see what i was supposed to be doing was right in front of me. i taught pre school for my church, i eventually realized that is what i wanted to do. except i wanted to teach special needs kids. i have a soft spot for children that need extra help and love. it depends.if i were you, id take a career aptitude test, it seriously helped me.
and when you find out what you want to do, then pick the college. dont pick the college before you pick what you want to do. certain schools may be good for one thing and not for the other.
start shadowing, i shadowed nurses because i thought i wanted to do that, i realized it was all paperwork and stuff i didnt want to do. so shadow, and take an online aptitiude test, or talk to your guidance counselor about the test. and last, make sure you enjoy it, dont do it just for the money or whatever, you have to like what youre going to be doing for the rest of your life

some career advice for highers and university? We Answered:
As you are doing Highers I presume you are in Scotland? What grade do you think you will get in both Standard Grades as that will depend on what Highers you can do, as for the 3rd language what other one are you currently doing as you cant do the Higher at school until you have the standard grade and if you go to Uni what career will you do with 3 languages? would you not be better doing 1 or 2 and another subject as a career. Good Luck from Glasgow.Isaac Said:
Embassy careers, and university courses? We Answered:
I would guess that International Relations is the most applicable major. However, Politics and History courses may be a good idea as well. You should talk to your high school counselor and the admissions folks at the universities that you're applying to.
