How "easy" is it to get into UW Stevens Point?

We Answered:

Well.. it can't hurt to apply, which you should. Good luck.

How are my credentials for college?

We Answered:

I'd say you have a pretty good chance at UW Madison. Your PSAT is very good, try to study more to get about 2000.

If I were you though, I'd choose APUSH over english lit if you're looking at social studies. It looks better, plus it might make you change your mind.

Good luck!

To above...UW madison is a good school, and is quite competitive... and is a top 50 in the country. Around Boston's ranking..

EDIT: I would suggest being a little more well rounded. You're missing science and math AP's. Even though it's not around your major, it would be good to take AP bio, chem or physics to brush up your chances.
Maybe ap calc, or if you can't handle that (not sure if you're in honors math), maybe ap stats..it's easier.

What are my chances at Emory?

We Answered:

Emory University's admission difficulty is considered hard.
Acceptance Rate: 27%.
Average SAT Scores: 1960-2240
Average ACT Scores: 30-33
90% of applicants are in the top 10% of their high school class.

With that being said, being in the top 10% of your high school class will be VERY important. Also, your SAT could be improved a little bit- it's obviously a very good score, but the higher the score, the better your chance of admission is. Make sure you study plenty and get all 4/5's on your AP tests.

Also, 50 service hours won't be enough. I know you're planning on having 200 by the end of the summer, but that might not even be enough for Emory. Try to get about 250-300 before you submit your application to Emory.

You might also want to consider joining your school's jazz band or pit orchestra; College applications don't ask what you instruments you play--you have to be able to put down that you were in the band, jazz band, pit orchestra, etc.

Emory is an excellent college, but I would also recommend you try applying to at least one ivy. Also, check out the University of Notre Dame, Washington University in St. Louis, Northwestern University, Carleton College, Rice University, Duke University, and Johns Hopkins University.

Best of luck :)

I've recovered from academic failure, does this mean my dreams are still shattered?

We Answered:

Many colleges ask for an admissions essay. This is a good place to explain what happened, but try not to be whiney about it. Put emphasis on the fact that you bounced back from this handicap!

I think you deserve a lot of credit, and all but the most competitive schools will probably take that into consideration.

If, however, you don't get in to the school of your choice, you can always do one or two semesters at a Junior (2 year college) and transfer.
Most curriculum's are similar for the first two years anyway, so you can show them what your made of -- get A's in your basic core subjects (English, Social Studies, Math, etc).
Good luck!

With these things, can I get into the University of Washington-Seattle?

We Answered:

I don't see any reason you couldn't get in, those are very nice credentials ... It's a very nice school. Great pick!

Good luck!
