But you can deal with this yourself if you educate yourself and pay attention to the world of advice available for free online and from the clerks of the court. You can talk to an attorney and see if it is possible in your state to require the wage earning spouse, your husband, to pay your attorney's bill. Check and see.

For a 15 year marriage, you are entitled to far more spousal support than $500 per month for 2 years. You would easily get alimony for half the length of the marriage at the time of divorce, say, 8 years. And you should ask for tuition and whatever other expenses are necessary to get you back in the work place. You didn't say how many children you have, but you can go online to your state's website and pop in his income figures and see how much child support would be for however many kids at the family income. You should ask for the house until the children are of the age of majority. It will most likely be sold and the profit divided equally, but you never know what you might get if you ask. You should ask to remain beneficiary of his life insurance until the children no longer receive child support.

USAA does banking for military veterans. They also offer insurance and lots of other services. I got 2 car loans through USAA. They are still pretty strict with giving out loans however. You still have to have decent credit and a steady income.

The 50% range for SATs is 1630 to 1970 ....which means at least 75% of the people accepted had a higher SAT then you.

Your best bet is to stay in Virginia and take the Metro into DC.

The guy that says that the Maryland side is safer is pulling your leg. The Virginia side is safer (Fairfax County, Arlington County). The Maryland side (Prince Georges County) is notorious for crime.

The big question is where is the event going to be held? The USSS has a training facility up in Beltsville, MD (that's Montgomery County, I think) and it's a bit safer than PG County. But, maybe they are having their thing downtown.
