What do you mean by career services?
Do you mean an agency? I worked as a temp for an agency who found me a temporary job, and they then went on to hire me full time. So if you do mean this kind of career service, I would say this is an advantage because it helped me get noticed by a company for my ability rather than just go for an interview & be judged on my cv alone.

I think you need to add a bit more info to your question.

1. Private enterprise - well it really depends on the service they provide. Most of them are usually trying to sell you and expensive book or DVD.

2. Or their service are so outrageously expensive and will not guarantee of either finding you a job or directing you to the career of a lifetime which suits you

3. Government Enterprise - they can not really help with skilled work. They seem to to be geared to serve labourers only.
