The test isnt hard to pass itself, its just basic arithmetic, language and spacial awareness. But the trade(s) your offered will be dictated by your score and not just overall, so if your weak in a particular area that can hold you back on particular trades. E.g. an Air Traffic Controller needs good spacial awareness and a high work rate.

To get a respectable score, definitely use the handouts they gave you. Play online IQ tests, and read a book. Also take 8 random cards from a deck of cards and give them to someone to show you, one at a time for about 2 seconds each, practice memorising the order they come up in till you can remember all 8.

Above all though, make sure you have a good nights rest before the test.

An IQ test is a generic test for, well, IQ. This is overall intelligence and ability.

Aptitude test tells you exactly what you're good at and not a score of how intelligent you are.
