Canadian Career Test

Judith Said:

Can A Canadian Citizen join the British Army?

We Answered:

Yes, any commonwealth citizen may join the British army. Info can be found here: http://www.army.mod.uk/join/20149.aspx

As for waiting, don't think joining the military is a fast process. The application process alone takes months, even years. If positions are not open right now in Canada, tell them you want to at least start the application process so that you file will be active when the positions open up. Infantry is probably not the best choice right now, the infantry is pretty much full right now, and next year when we pull out of Afghanistan there will be a surplus. Many infantry personnel will be transferred to other trades.

Barry Said:

How hard is it to get enlisted?

We Answered:

Step 1: correct
Step 2: Easy, depending on your history.
Step 3: These steps can happen in any order. If you aced the CFAT practice test, that means nothing. Lots of people have failed even when they've done perfect on the practice test. It's not as easy as some people think. So no, it's not considered 'easy'
Step 4: Not really, CF is very anal about the medical exam
Step 5: It's a job interview, it's not easy. How do you not know what a job interview is?
*Steps 2-5 can happen in ANY order*
Step 6: Wrong, the regular force does NOT have a fitness test prior to enrolment anymore.
Step 7: Uhm wrong again. Depends on your trade. If any of your top 3 trades you've selected are in combat arms, good luck getting a job offer. All combat arms MOCs are closed until April and when they open they close within weeks. People who pass with flying colours on everything doesn't always get the job offer. There's too many people applying than there are jobs available.

You also fail to know that this whole process on average takes 6 months and can take longer than that.

Short and simple, no it's not easy. Prepare yourself for what's in your control (CFAT, Interview etc)

Good luck

Preperation to join Canadian Forces [army]?

We Answered:

Well, I hate to rain on your parade but you need a minimum of grade 10 to join the Canadian Forces. Having already established that point lets go on to a couple of others. In no particular order:

First Peace Keeping - The traditional peace keeping operations that the Canadian army used to conduct (ie get between two warring factions and keep them apart) has pretty much been discontinued. At least for now the focus of the Canadian army is combat operations in Afghanistan. That leads me to your next point.

Having an uncle who is a CWO will not help you get into the army

The government has stated that Canada's combat role in Afghanistan will end in 2011. In 2013 there may still be some Canadians tin Afghanistan but likely they'll be in some type of a mentoring role assisting the Afghan military to stand on its own. You'll be 19 in 2013, hardly an age where you've gained sufficient experience/knowledge to mentor anybody.

If you have "no problem" seeing somone die, I'd guess that you've either never seen anyone die or you have some emotional issues that you need to sort out.

I'm not being nasty or ignorant with you but to be honest - from what I read in your question you have a lot of growing up to do before you'd be a good candidate to join the Canadian Army.

MY suggestion for you - get yourself back to school and at the very least stay until you graduate from high school. Grow up a bit - at 18 you can join the army if you're still interested and you won't need parental consent.

How long does a Marijuana Detox take with Antioxidants and exercise... URINE TEST ONLY?

We Answered:

Up to 30 days for some people, but it all depends on your metabolism and body weight. THC is stored in body fat. Drink a lot of water too. Most drug tests check for use within the past 72 hours.
According to the High Times magazine, the best time to catch urine is at the middle of your stream rather than the beginning or end. Take a test at home first to be sure that you'll pass.

Daryl Said:

Will the careers I want to pursue be limited because of my disease?

We Answered:

You are only limited by your own capabilities. You have heard of those inspirational stories where people who are handicapped or disadvantaged end up doing miraculous things with their life. As long as you are capable of performing a job, you have every chance at succeeding in your mission. A great attitude goes a LONG way in the U.S. Good for you for setting goals and pursuing them, dont let anyone tell you that you "can't"

Brittany Said:

What do I need to complete for a career in the Canadian Forces?

We Answered:

If you want to become a soldier in the infantry you will initially have to satisfy the physical and vision requirements for that trade. After basic training (you might go to St. Jean PQ for the CF basic training course and then to a regimental battle school for your first phase of infantry training OR you might go directly to a regimental battle school for a combination of basic training and the first phase of infantry training. I have heard of the initial training for infantry being done both ways so it will just depend on what they're doing at the time.

Training doesn't end with completion of battle school. There will be opportunities/requirements for additional training for as long as you stay in the army. There's always another course that you need for promotion or some additional qualification. It never ends.

Christina Said:

Should I join the Canadian Forces - Primary Reserve?

We Answered:

go for it, and it will make you gain some time for promotion and pension if your time in reserve is recognized. it will also prepare you for this great adventure and help you decide on your future career.

as for physical training, the better you are the easier it become but endurance and mental toughness are keys component to survive training. each part of it will push back your limits and when you think it's over they will push you some more and you will find limit are only in you brain.

fitness test used to be more arduous but i guess they hope to bring you up to speed in the basic training phase.

go to the recruiting center and talk to a recruiter of your project, you can also go to the reserve unit you are interested in and ask for some info.

have a great career, it is quite an experience.

it is all in the mind game.
