Looking for a great Career assessment test?

We Answered:

Well, it looks like you are a bit stuck :( Someone like you with a Paralegal degree should not be working as a `receptionist` for more than a part time job. I know how hard it is to gain your first bit of experience in a world where everyone already wants you to have experience, but there is a way out of the spiral trap: If you get education in a specific area which you are certain interests you and you get highly qualified in one particular field then people will be inclined to take you as their `apprentice` and make something out of you. Before you choose which field you want to specialize in you must think about it very carefully; once you have made your move and gone into specific education there is no going back and choosing something else. I was lucky. Don`t just jump into it: take some time and think about what SPECIFIC job you want to do and then study for it - Good luck!

My employment assessment test thing said my career interest is in things involving Introspection this includes?

We Answered:

Introspection = "the contemplation of your own thoughts and desires and conduct" (wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn)
A career involving this could be an artist, a graphic designer, a counsellor (you can be a specialized counsellor if you want to.), a psychologist, events management, real estate, sales, marketing, a website designer, a massage therapist, song writer, author, musician, entertainer (eg comedian), chef, caterer, or a mental health nurse. There are plenty of options, and I'm surprised that your career assessment didn't list jobs involving this quality.
In career studies at school, they sent us to http://www.groper.com.au. After you do the career assessment your result is a particular animal (e.g. trout, dolphin, starfish) and under that it says "You are a dolphin. This means that you are caring, and would be suited to these jobs: nurse, teacher, doctor, masseaust .... etc).
If your results don't seem to make sense the first time you do the assessment, have someone sit with you who knows you well, e.g. a relative, friend etc. and help you figure out which answer best describes you.
You can get a free report, or pay and get a more detailed report.
Another good test to take is http://jobsearch.gov.au/Careers/pages/jo… . Even if you aren't Australian, it will give you a good idea of what careers you may be suited to. It really helped me.
