Career Tests For High School Students

Constance Said:

Confused high school student. Please help!Need Advise.........?

We Answered:

it's definately normal not to know what you want to do, especially if you still aren't even a senior...i didn't know what i wanted to do myself until my third semester in college...it's more normal not to know what you want to do thank you think...taking the different classes in high school can help you decide what you want to do...also, you shouldn't worry about disappointing your parents- you should do what makes you happy, you are the one that will be stuck with that decision.don't stress about it, it will eventually come to you

I want to become a teacher for High School levels- is it too late for me? (Description?)?

We Answered:

No, it’s not too late! It’s never too late to turn things around. And, with your recent high marks, you've already begun doing it...Great going!

Now, I don’t know where you got the idea that teachers were “the type of people that did perfect in High School. .. were probably honor roll students, never skipped class, were usually Office aids, etc.” That may be true for some, but nowhere near all of them. You'd be surprised.

The most important thing is for you to stay focused on your dream of becoming a teacher. Congrats on your academic performance this semester! Keep up the good work, and don’t worry about a lack of friends. Good grief, if you read biographies or listen to interviews, you know that many, many successful people had few friends in high school (some even had *none,* and many were bullied or teased [ See http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;… and http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;… So, don't let others' treatment or opinion of you in any way define who you really are. Believe in yourself, and believe in your future as a teacher.

By the way, one of the most competent and respected high school teachers in our area had a heck of a time in high school (I know, because I was one of her teachers). Wishing you all the best.

I'm in High School, and I want to pursue a career in Roller Coaster Design/ Testing?

We Answered:

to design roller coasters you will need to be an engineer, that means lots of math. Web design wont do you any good at all, it all gets outsourced anyway. CAD will be very helpfull also,, it is what they call engineering design these days. So go for as much math as you can in high school then engineering in college. Some drawing and art is helpfull also.

Tom Said:

should 4th year high school take up NCAE?

We Answered:

Why not? As long as those people arn't forced to go into those careers, I think it is a good idea for those who want to take it.

Please vote for the best answer!

Anyone familiar with the prerequisites/recommended high school courses to become a Psychiatrist?

We Answered:

Psychiatrists are doctors with a specialty, so you need to take whatever classes are recommended for people who want to go to med school. Your advisor will know what those classes are specifically. Generally, you want all the chemistry and biology your school offers, at the most advanced level they offer.

For the SAT II, take whichever you're stronger at. Getting into med school is highly competitive.

Harvard and John Hopkins are among the highest-regarded medical schools, but I have no idea which is stronger. Colleges will not have psychiatry departments, since that's a subset of medicine.

Psychology is a whole different thing. Make sure you understand the differences between the two disciplines before choosing coursework that leads to one or the other.
