Peggy Said:

Would it be possible to follow a nurse around one day to see if it would be a good career choice?

We Answered:

You would have to speak with the nursing director of a hospital or clinic to find out the proper way to go about this. They do not let random people just go around with a nurse and see what they do because of confidentiality issues (Hippa) You wouldn't like it if a stranger was following a nurse and taking care of your mom. And frankly, in many areas, it's not practical to follow a nurse because it's too busy and you probably wouldn't understand most of what they are talking about. I think you may have to just apply to a nursing school and if accepted, you can decide if you like it or not, based on the classes, clinical etc... You can always change your major.. It is a good profession and you can work in many areas and go on to advance your degree later.

Is "pro-choice" the litmus test for a feminist? Don't women have more important issues than abortion?

We Answered:

No pro-choice on abortion is not a litmus test for feminism. Yes, we have other issues. Palin does not represent many of my political views and she is not in any sense ready to step in as President.

What are some creative careers?

We Answered:

Peruse a university catalogue. Go to said university for one year, taking a bunch of different courses in the catalogue that appeal to you. Upon experiencing those courses, reconsider your direction in life.

Basically, if you don't know what you want in life, you still have time to think it over.

You could always just be a professional student. Get a BA (or a BSci, if you wanted to) and just continue with grad school, being a Teacher's Aide to pay the bills.

You could be a teacher. Teaching takes all kinds of folks.

You could go take a language and become a translator. That takes a lot of creativity because you basically have to re-write a lot of the thing you are translating. It's easier than being a writer, because you don't have to come up with the ideas yourself.

In that vein, you could be a writer or a journalist or even a photo journalist. Those require a creative entrepenuer.
